INSPECTION

Before you start treating your gear or clothing with Sawyer Permethrin Fabric Treatment, inspect each item carefully. Look for any signs of wear, discoloration, damage, or loose stitching. If you find any issues that could potentially compromise the effectiveness of the treatment, reach out to us for advice. Also, ensure there are no sharp objects or debris on your gear that could cause damage during the treatment process.

PREPARATION

Ready your gear for the treatment. Lay your fabric items flat on a soft surface or hang them for easy access. Hold the Permethrin spray bottle about 6 to 8 inches away from the fabric. Remember to have enough Permethrin to cover your gear - the EPA recommends using 4.5 ounces to treat an entire outfit.

TREATMENT

Apply the Permethrin spray with a slow sweeping motion, directly onto each item. Each side of the fabric should be treated for about 30 seconds. This includes your hammocks, sleeping bags, jackets, pants, socks, shoes, and other camping, hunting, or travel gear. For full protection against insects, complement this treatment by applying Sawyer Picaridin topical repellent on your skin.

DRYING AND STORAGE

Once the treatment is applied, let your gear dry thoroughly before using or storing them. Permethrin becomes odorless after drying and does not damage or stain your gear. The treatment remains effective for up to 6 weeks or 6 wash cycles for clothing.
