The pelican is just what I wanted lite and compact. Thanks
I own my own business so I love supporting other small businesses! I received my Pelican Rain Tarp very fast, I seem sealed it the day after I received it with the sealant provided by Hummingbird! (Great added bonus) I took the tarp out that weekend for an overnight backpacking trip. The set up was super simple and the pitch was taught. I tried several different set ups off the initial one and they all worked great! I usually do not hope for rain but I was hoping it would rain to test out the "waterproofness" haha! (Is that a real word?) Well it rained the next morning and the tarp was wonderful! No leaks! Hung the tarp when I got home and it dried very fast, this will be helpful to me on trail! Can't wait to see how long this baby lasts! If it had a few more tie out loops on the bottom I may try it out for ground camping! Haha I may still try it because its huge inside and so lightweight absolutely love the doors!!! Sorry for rambling on but I am impressed! Next order will definitely be a hammock to try! Thanks! Also you reaching out to me after my purchase speaks volumes to me!!
I purchased the Pelican tarp to replace an Eno SilPoly Pro tarp. I wanted a smaller pack size and larger coverage. I lead a BSA Troop and most of the adults and older scouts hammock camp.
First night of use was in the Cohutta Wilderness( North GA) for a two day hike along/through Jack’s River. The tarp performed fabulously. We got a large unexpected rain storm around 9pm Saturday and when I shook the tarp off Sunday morning it was almost completely dry.
Seam sealing was way way easier than I thought it would be!
I have already recommended this tarp to a few other Troop leaders.
I pitched the Pelican Rain tarp to do the seam sealing. This tarp is huge. I’m very impressed with the covered area of protection to weight ratio. I have been a Hennessy Hammock user and while I still love that hammock my entire hummingbird setup takes up a fraction of the space while weighing less than half my old setup. This tarp looks like I could pitch it with the sides almost all of the way to the ground if the storm was really bad. I love this rain tarp!
Super light weight, able to close up doors around my 10ft Dream Hammock Sparrow and have plenty of room inside. I'm using the tie outs with an external pole mod. Packs down really small. Definitely recommend.
